My busy student life
As an international student, life can be both exhilarating and overwhelming. My name is Julia, and I’m from Brazil, currently studying in Melbourne, Australia. Like many international students, I juggle part-time work, full-time studies, and the relentless challenge of managing daily chores.
When I first arrived, everything felt like an adventure—a new country, new people, and a new way of life. But soon, the weight of responsibilities began to set in. Managing my classes, group assignments, and shifts at my part-time job left little time for anything else. Most nights, I’d return to my shared apartment exhausted and starving, only to find the fridge empty or filled with random ingredients I was too tired to turn into a proper meal.
Then came the day I discovered Meal Prep—a service that changed everything.
Before Meal Prep, my weeks were chaotic. Mornings were a rush out the door with nothing but a granola bar in hand, barely making it to class on time. Lunches were quick and often unhealthy takeaway meals. By the time I got home after my evening shifts at a café, I’d collapse on my bed, regretting the money I’d spent on yet another greasy fast-food dinner. It wasn’t just my wallet that was hurting; my health started to suffer too. I felt constantly tired, my energy levels were all over the place, and my stress seemed to grow daily.
One particularly tough week, I was desperately scrolling through my phone when I stumbled upon Meal Prep. Their tagline caught my eye: “Healthy meals for busy lives.” Curious, I clicked on their website and found an array of meal plans tailored to different needs. They had high-protein options, vegetarian meals, and even dishes inspired by global cuisines. The idea of having pre-prepared meals ready to heat and eat sounded too good to be true, but the reasonable pricing convinced me to give it a try.
When my first delivery arrived, I was thrilled. The eco-friendly packaging was neatly organized, and each meal was labelled with its contents and nutritional information. That first week, I enjoyed meals like grilled chicken with quinoa, a comforting lentil curry, and a flavorful beef stir-fry. The transformation in my routine was immediate. Instead of agonizing over what to eat or resorting to fast food, I just had to heat up a Meal Prep dish. The extra time I gained was a blessing—time I used to catch up on assignments or even just relax after a long day.
The benefits didn’t stop there. After a month of using Meal Prep, the changes in my life were undeniable. My energy levels were higher, and I felt more focused during classes. Proper nutrition made a world of difference. I noticed improvements in my overall health, and with the meals being portion-controlled, I started to maintain a healthier weight without even trying.
One of the best parts of the service was its impact on my finances. Surprisingly, Meal Prep turned out to be more cost-effective than my haphazard grocery shopping and frequent takeaways. I no longer waste money on ingredients that went unused or meals that didn’t satisfy me. Knowing exactly how much I’d spend on food each week made budgeting so much easier.
A typical day in my life now feels balanced and manageable. Mornings start with a wholesome breakfast, like a veggie-packed muffin or yogurt parfait, giving me the energy to tackle the day. Lunchtime is quick yet satisfying with options like teriyaki salmon and brown rice. Dinner, after a long day of work and classes, is a comforting bowl of creamy chicken pasta or a hearty vegetarian lasagna. Even snacks are sorted, with options like protein balls to keep me fueled during late-night study sessions.
My roommates quickly noticed the change in me. Seeing me eat healthier and look more energized piqued their curiosity, and soon, they were trying Meal Prep too. Our shared kitchen became less of a battlefield and more of a place to bond over our favourite meals. Even during my weekly video calls home, my mom couldn’t help but comment on how much better I looked. When I explained how Meal Prep had simplified my life, she felt relieved knowing I was taking care of myself.
Looking back, I realise that Meal Prep taught me a lot about self-care. As international students, it’s easy to get caught up in the grind of work and studies, often at the expense of our health and well-being. But the truth is, taking care of ourselves isn’t a luxury—it’s a necessity. Meal Prep became more than just a convenient food service; it became a lifeline that helped me reclaim my time, energy, and peace of mind.
If you’re like me, someone trying to balance a hectic schedule while pursuing your dreams, I can’t recommend Meal Prep enough. It’s not just about convenience—it’s about creating space for the things that truly matter. For me, it’s been a game-changer, and I hope it can be for you too.
